Join TAM and Soft Power artist Roquin-Jon Quichocho Siongco for a traditional weaving workshop for all ages.
Attendees will work alongside Roquin to create personal works of art using åkgak (Pandanus) leaves and traditional Pasifika weaving methods.
Materials are included with the price of admission, and attendees are invited to take their creation home with them.
Whether you’re looking to learn a new skill, create a handmade gift for someone special, or just take a break from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season this workshop offers the perfect opportunity to reconnect with community over traditional works of art.
“While weaving is a practice that exists in practically every culture ever, these sessions offer the unique opportunity for people to create with special mediums rooted in generations of knowledge from the Pasifik. Tradition does not live in the objects we make, but in the times we share making them. Beyond our creations that are museum worthy, is the perpetuation of the art form. Conversations between a people and their environment, from one generation to the next. Not only do individuals walk away with something they can wear, adorn a space with, or gift another, they also takeaway a greater appreciation for the handmade and an affirmed sense of community.” – Roquin
