tomakesenseofitall delves into the artists’ relationships between their environments, surroundings, and those around them, offering evocations of memory through their recollections and imaginings.
The exhibition’s poetic and exploratory nature articulates an attentiveness to the artists’ interpretations of these retellings, as they employ their imaginations, through various mediums, to make sense of it all.
With practices spanning ceramics, sculpture, and painting, the artists explore relationships and interrogate memory and perceptions through these recollections, both personal and collective. In these contemplations, the artists share work that collectively indicates what is to come, to make sense of things that are familiar, but may never be as they once were. Through artwork, spaces for convening, and interactive activities, tomakesenseofitall invites visitors into the artists’ sites of memory, to consider the impact of their own relationships and how it forms their perceptions.
Organized by Tacoma Art Museum and curated by Victoria Miles.
